It is the ultimate meeting ground for experts from the industry and academia, and the place to discover new trends and developments. PCIM Europe is the world’s leading international exhibition and conference for power electronics and its applications. International players with a passion for this particular subject come together in Nuremberg, Germany, on an annual basis. With over 18,000 visitors, 600 exhibitors, and 38,000 m² of exhibition space in this year’s edition, Team Hoynck had the privilege of supporting Vincotech for the second year in a row.
Building Trust in Event Partnerships
As an established supplier in designing and building power modules for motion control, renewable energy, and power supply applications, Vincotech entered PCIM 2024 to empower new ideas and drive advances on numerous fronts. For the company’s Europe division, it is seen as one of the main events to attend and requires a considerable preparation phase each year – lasting well over six months. Mirkka Rissa, Senior Marketing Communications Manager at Vincotech, mentioned how choosing the right partner to collaborate with for these events is of the utmost importance. “As our marketing communication team is small, we often collaborate with external partners to ensure professional results in various areas. It is a matter of either spending time on getting in-house skills or bringing in experts with up-to-date knowledge and insights of the latest trends’’, says Mirkka. Having worked with Team Hoynck before in a previous occupation, Mirkka was already familiar with their working methods. She continues, “In the end, it comes down to trust. I simply do not have the will or time to double-check everything. A high level of professionalism is essential to me with all our partners. That is what Team Hoynck has shown me before, so I wanted to work with them again.”
Standing Out among Giants
When starting the official tendering process for the 2024 event, Vincotech clearly stated the requirements for the booth. With the aim to stand out amid the multitude, Vincotech wished to integrate elements that strongly show its company identity. Fundamentals, such as colors and logo incorporation, but also ensuring one of the company’s most important phrases - Empowering your ideas – have been considered upon creating the design. “Even though we might not be as large as our competitors, we go the extra mile to make the most out of customers’ ideas and requirements. Being innovative is important and it should be reflected at our booth”, says Mirkka. By also recognizing the presence of major players in their surroundings at the event, Mirkka understood how the booth design had to be novel, original, and certainly ‘’not the traditional way’’. She continues, ‘’As per our briefing, Team Hoynck came up with several traditional designs. However, they also came up with something entirely new. They showed us that we could do something completely different. I would not have been able to take these ideas to the next level on my own. It was bold and a real eye-opener’’. For the first time, the booth included solely digital elements. ‘’We took a huge risk by doing something out of the ordinary, but we received so much positive feedback from everyone – our customers, the event organization, and even our competitors’’, concludes Mirkka.
Ensuring Flawless Execution
Being pleased with the design and preparation phase by Team Hoynck, she points out how each phase was met with flexibility. ‘’When I happened to miss out on deadlines due to internal delays, Team Hoynck always made it work’’, says Mirkka, pointing out how unforeseen situations can occur and timelines can shift. Having regular meetings in the months leading up to the event reassured Mirkka about Vincotech’s readiness at PCIM. ‘’I knew no catastrophes were coming our way’’, she says while laughing.
As Mirkka was responsible for the completion of numerous events in her professional career, she is aware of the elements essential to creating a successful booth. ‘’As you can imagine, there are always a million things on my list that I have to pay attention to before or during an event. That is why it is so nice that Team Hoynck also points out other things that should be on my radar!’’, says Mirkka. While on-site, she did not experience any major issues or challenges thanks to the presence of Team Hoynck’s project managers and support people. ‘’I was very impressed with how Team Hoynck dealt with situations at the event. They worked on the weekends to have everything ready on Monday when we arrived on set. For instance, they made an effort to deal with our other external partners when issues occurred or supported functional problems. I really value their responsiveness’’.
‘’When attending events, I network, speak, and share learning experiences with competitors and customers’’, says Mirkka. Furthermore, she mentioned how nurturing existing relationships with customers and creating relationships with new contacts is Vincotech’s main priority at events. ‘’Having Team Hoynck’s support makes me worry less. I can focus on my priorities and I know problems will be solved – whether on-site or in the design phase, stand-building phase, or overall project management. They are the whole package’’, concludes Mirkka. ‘’And you know what – at the event, other companies asked me who built our stand. I did not hesitate to share Team Hoynck’s contact details. I look forward to the next event. It is hard work, but with Team Hoynck it is also fun. Let’s see what we come up with next year!”
